The Topeka Adult Hockey League is a recreation ice-hockey league in Topeka, KS. We play our games at the Stormont Vail Events Center and have teams combined of players of all skill, from brand new skaters to veterans.
Teams are formed after an assessment of each player’s skill and a draft occurs with the goal of skill parity – this ensures teams are fairly balanced and all players can enjoy the great sport of hockey.
All are welcome to join our recreation, no-checking league, which operates much like a club, with a rich history of sportsmanship and enjoyment!
The Owen Cup

Teams finish the regular season with a playoff where the top two teams compete to win the E. Robert Owen Championship Cup. The “Owen Cup” is in honor of Topeka resident and member of the Gold Medel 1960 US Olympic Ice Hockey Team, where USA defeated Czechoslovakia 9-4.
Following hockey tradition, each player’s name who has won the cup is inscribed.
Miles Huffman Sportsmanship

Each year our league recognizes one player who exemplifies the best of hockey by awarding the Miles Huffman Sportsmanship Trophy.
Miles fell in love with hockey when the Topeka Scarecrows introduced the sport to Topeka in 1998. As soon as he learned adult hockey would begin, he bought the equipment and learned to skate and play as he went. His enthusiasm for the game was apparent to all; he was happy to be on the ice, no matter the score or the roster. He played in our league every year until 2003 when he passed away much too early after a short bout with brain cancer. Tim Paris created the trophy and our league’s players have selected the recipient each year who best demonstrates the love of the game that Miles always had.
Our tradition is to award the trophy only once to an individual based on a vote by all players in the league.
